Actuator I is a modular interaction system developed within the Institute for Interanimation by Mona Kasra and Peter Bussigel. The system translates physical interaction into variable audiovisual responses governed by internal rules and external coupling rather than fixed control mappings. It functions as a sensing and output node within larger networked environments, emphasizing distributed agency and non-deterministic behavior.

Actuators III (2018)

Distributed motor and solenoid array activating found metal and debris in a garden environment. The installation uses a network of low-power actuators to mechanically excite irregular surfaces and objects, generating microscopic and incidental sound through direct physical coupling. Developed for AIOP Matter, the work foregrounds found sound and material resonance as outputs of a hidden electromechanical Logic.

Floraphone is an experimental sound-therapy system developed in collaboration with NAOCO WOWSUGI and VERY SAD LAB. The device uses chance-based analog circuitry to generate fixed frequency bands selected to align with plant root and leaf structures, delivering low-intensity sonic exposure within a limited radius. The system is designed for sustained daily operation, providing continuous, non-invasive sound over extended periods rather than discrete or high-amplitude events.
